West Nile Virus Mosquito Pellet Application Information

Vector control aircraft periodically operate aboard the installation in order to conduct aerial pesticide spraying to prevent the transmission of the West Nile Virus in humans aboard Camp Pendleton.

These aircraft drop pellets into bodies of fresh water (ponds & lakes) that kill mosquito larvae, thus reducing the mosquito population and the potential for the virus spreading.

Although the pellets are not harmful to humans, Camp Pendleton residents should avoid waterways in the areas highlighted by the below map when aircraft are conducting vector control spraying
