Approximately 2000 Marines and Sailors participated in the 2016 World Famous mud Run by Lake O'Neill here, June 3. The race was part of the Commanding General's Cup and covered about 6.5 miles. Camp Pendleton’s 31 Area Edson Range Mess Hall received the Maj. Gen. William Pendleton Thompson Hill Award for best full food service mess hall in the Marine Corps, May 31. The W.P.T. Hill Award was established in 1985 to improve food service operation and recognize the best messes in the Marine Corps.

More than 40 Marines and civilians with Marine Corps Installations - West, 1st Marine Division, 1st Marine Logistics Group and I Marine Expeditionary Force set up booths and exhibits in order to foster a sense of unity among the diverse groups serving within the military.

Its mission is to identify and coordinate community resources that reduce the impact surrounding the mobile military lifestyle of military school-aged children. Additionally, other initiatives facilitate support services that assist children/youth with relocation, life transitions and achieving academic success.
