Press Release #12-023 ACTIVE WILDLAND RANGE FIRE ON CAMP PENDLETON[MIGRATE]
The Camp Pendleton Fire Department, as well other mutual aid assets are currently fighting a wild-land range fire here with ground and aerial assets and have contained about 15 percent of the fire.
The fire began at approximately 2:30 p.m. in the X-Ray Impact Area of the Base and has burned more than 200 acres as of 5:30 p.m. The fire started during a training exercise this afternoon and has been moving to the Northeast..
Current assets on-hand include, one fixed wing aircraft, one helicopter and four strike teams from Camp Pendleton, as well as other local jurisdictions. Air assets are actively dropping retardant on the fire and strike teams are in position conducting fuel mitigation burns to stop the northeasterly movement.
There are no reports of any injuries or damage to any structures. At this time there is no threat to any of the surrounding communities of the base.
