Area maintenance Marines were presented Meritorious Mast for saving the government thousands of dollars in labor and heavy equipment cost.

“Tasked with clearing dirt, brush and debris from area storm drains, culverts, and drainage ditches [the Marines] set about this challenge to protect the health, safety and environmental resources of base critical infrastructure systems which negated a potential flooding hazard in a timely manner,” said Capt. Mathew T. Smith, the Headquarters & Support Company commander, Headquarters & Support Battalion, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton.

The Bachelor Enlisted Quarter’s managers for the area were also presented Certificates of Commendation for demonstrating exceptional industry and initiative.

“Their attention to detail ensures maximum utilization of spaces and improved the operations and maintenance of the facility which greatly enhanced the moral and quality of life of the occupants,” said Cordero.
