Fallbrook firefighters are scheduled to host a Memorial Hike at Monserate Mountain Hill in honor of the 343 firefighters who died during the 9/11 attack, Sept. 7.

The three-mile hike is also being held to raise money for the families of fallen firefighters and to advocate a high level of fitness within the fire service.

The route has 1,500 feet of elevation gain, simulating the height of the World Trade Center’s Twin Towers.

Each hiker will carry a picture of one of the firefighters who lost their lives attempting to save others.

For more information on registration or donating to the event, go to www.fallbrookfirefighters.org or visit the administrative office of North County Fire Protection District at 330 South Main Avenue, Fallbrook.
