CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. -- Marines will conduct an exercise that involves the detonation of Mine Clearing Line Charges (MCLIC), Wednesday and Thursday, Aug. 13 - 14.
Units will also be conducting mortar training in the Whiskey and Zulu impact areas from 6:00 a.m. to midnight Tuesday through Friday, Aug. 12 - 15.
Mine Clearing Line Charges are 1,750 pounds of linked C-4 (Composition C) explosives used to create a breach in minefields under combat conditions.
Depending on atmospheric conditions, the sound of the explosions may be amplified and heard up to 50 miles away.
