CAMP PENDLETON -- The Camp Pendleton Fire Department and mutual aid assets have stopped the fire’s rate of spread to the northeast and southeast.
The Camp Pendleton Fire Department and mutual aid assets will continue fire suppression through the night and Sunday.
Expect significant smoke plumes through the night and Sunday due to unburned heavy brush within the fire perimeter.
There are no reports of any injuries or damage to any structures, and there is currently no threat to any structures on base or in the surrounding communities.
The fire began Friday during a training exercise at approximately 12 p.m. in the Quebec Impact Area of the base. It has burned approximately 1,000 acres and is still at 30 percent containment as of 7:30 p.m. today.
