CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. --
Portions of Wire Mountain Road’s west bound lanes will be closed starting April 22 for ramp construction in preparation of phase II of the clover leaf construction project.
One westbound lane will be closed near Laraway Street for approximately 300 feet. Motorist traveling West on Wire Mountain Road may encounter some traffic delays during peak travel times.
Phase II of the clover leaf project is scheduled to begin in early May.
During the weekend of May 3-5, crews are scheduled to start construction of a temporary intersection north of the Wire Mountain Road and Vandegrift Boulevard intersection.
During that weekend, the A Street Bridge to Camp Del Mar will be closed and all inbound and outbound traffic will be required to use the Del Mar Gate.
Inbound and outbound traffic on Vandegrift Boulevard near the main gate will also be reduced to one lane each while the temporary intersection is being constructed.
Starting May 6, the Vandegrift Boulevard, Wire Mountain Road and A Street intersection’s are scheduled to be closed for the construction of an overpass and motorists will be required to use the temporary intersection to enter Wire Mountain and Camp Del Mar from the main gate.
The construction of the overpass is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year.
More information about the temporary intersection and overpass construction will be available later in April.
