CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. --
The San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station Sirens will undergo a required test as part of its quarterly requirement.
Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton's 10 sirens are scheduled to be tested on Nov 12 & 13. They expect to be complete with the testing on Nov. 12, however in the event that there are technical difficulties; the second day is also scheduled.
This test is called a "Growl" test within the industry. As the technicians are going around Camp Pendleton to conduct the test, the sirens will last for 3-5 seconds.
There is no reason to call 911 as this is only a test and there are no reporting requirements of installation personnel.
