Press Release #12-039 Vegetation fires burning at Camp Pendleton

CAMP PENDLETON --

Approximately four small vegetation fires are burning well within the Whiskey, Zulu and Quebec impact areas in the center portion of the base.

Smoke from the fires within the impact areas can be seen both on and off base. There is no threat to personnel or structures at this time. The Camp Pendleton Fire Dept. is monitoring the fires within the impact areas.

Additionally, the Camp Pendleton Fire Dept. responded to a vegetation fire which began at approximately 4 p.m. in the southern/central portion of the base near Wilcox Range. The fire burned approximately five to six acres. The Camp Pendleton Fire Dept. entered Mop-Up Operations at this fire at approximately 5:30 p.m.
