The 34th Commandant of the Marine Corps, Gen. James T. Conway, speaks during a monument dedication ceremony, Sept. 15, in honor of those who gave their lives at the Chosin Reservoir. The Camp Pendleton South Mesa Club now exhibits the 3,000 pound granite monument to remind those present of the military's service and sacrifice during the reservoir's bitter campaign in which the 1st Marine Division fought a prodigious battle.
