A NEW Five Revision of the Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton Integrated Natural Resources Management Plan (INRMP) is in planning and the beginning of a new review update. The INRMP is a document that guides the management and conservation of natural resources under the Base’s control. The integration of natural resources management with training and mission support requirements and responsibilities helps to ensure that Camp Pendleton continues to provide sustained support for the military mission and fulfill stewardship and regulatory requirements.
Camp Pendleton’s INRMP was first published in October 2001. Camp Pendleton conducts frequent document reviews to monitor progress of planned action implementation, make adjustments where necessary, and ensure the continued usefulness of this plan. This ongoing development, review, and implementation involves a cross section of land users and managers and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the California Department of Fish and Game. Results of this review determined that a revision to the INRMP published in October 2001 was needed to accommodate changes in laws, in guidance from DoD and Headquarters, U.S. Marine Corps, to update species accounts and update ongoing management activities and results.
Informal coordination with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the California Department of Fish and Game began in August 2004 and is ongoing. Public comment and official review by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the California Department of Fish and Game took place during the period 28 September to 27 November 2006. Comments are included in the INRMP as well as responses to those comments.
As a result of the close coordination that was developed with Wildlife Agencies during the revision process, an ongoing (annual) INRMP review and update process is being instituted. This process should result in frequent updates to individual sections of the INRMP and may eliminate the need for a complete revision in the future. The more frequent updates should ensure current species information and management actions are available to Base users, managers and the general public.

Members of the public are invited to submit comments and recommendations on the INRMP at any time to:
