The Security Battalion Chaplain provides for the spiritual, emotional, personal and interpersonal needs of Security Battalion Marines, Sailors and family members as well as addressing the specific spiritual needs of military personnel confined in the Camp Pendleton Base Brig.
Briefings and counseling on relevant life issues are provided to Battalion members. Through liaison with other Chaplains and community religious ministries and services Battalion personnel have access to Pre-marriage Workshops, PREP (Prevention and Relationship Enhancement Program) training, Suicide Prevention and Awareness training and Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) training. In a busy and high stress environment it is the Chaplain's job to help keep people connected to God so that their conduct with one another remains at a higher functional level, whether that be with fellow Marines or more importantly with their families and loved ones.
Religious Program for the BRIG
The Camp Pendleton Base Brig enjoys a vibrant religious program designed to meet the varied religious needs of a large inmate population. Regularly scheduled Protestant, Catholic and Islamic services are conducted weekly and provisions are frequently arranged to meet the needs of other recognized religious groups. All religious programming works toward the goal of returning back to the military service and ultimately the civilian sector an individual who is more morally, religiously and socially prepared than when they arrived at the Brig.
