Sergeant Major Rose enlisted in the Marine Corps on December 26, 1990.  In January 1991, Private Rose attended recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, California.  Upon completion of Marine Combat Training (MCT), he attended the Basic Radio Operators Course at Marine Corps Communication Electronic Schools, 29 Palms, California.

In August 1991, Private First Class Rose was transferred to Communications Company, 3d Force Service Support Group (FSSG), III Marine Expeditionary Force (MEF) in Okinawa, Japan.  During his tour, Private First Class Rose supported several training exercises on the island and in the Philippines.

In September 1992, Lance Corporal Rose executed orders to the School of Infantry-West at Camp Pendleton, California, where he served as a communications instructor for MCT and Infantry Training Battalion.  

In 1994, Corporal Rose returned to Okinawa and served as the Communications Chief at 3d Medical Battalion, 3d FSSG, III MEF.  He deployed to Thailand for several exercises, to include Cobra Gold.

In June 1995, Sergeant Rose returned to Camp Pendleton, California, and was assigned to 5th Battalion, 11th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division (MarDiv), I MEF where he served as the Radio Chief for Headquarters Battery.  

In October 1998, Sergeant Rose received orders to Recruiter’s School and upon graduation was assigned to Recruiting Substation (RSS) Boston, Recruiting Station (RS) Portsmouth, 1st Marine Corps District, Marine Corps Recruiting Command as a canvassing recruiter.  After 12 months, Staff Sergeant Rose became the Noncommissioned Officer-in-Charge (NCOIC) of RSS Boston, RSS Lynn, and RSS Manchester.

Upon a successful NCOIC tour, Staff Sergeant Rose received orders to Marine Air Support Squadron 3 (MASS-3), Marine Air Control Group 38 (MACG-38), 3d Marine Aircraft Wing (MAW), I MEF in Camp Pendleton, California.  He served as the Radio Chief was later deployed to Iraq in October 2002 in support of Operations ENDURING FREEDOM and IRAQI FREEDOM. 

In October 2004, Gunnery Sergeant Rose was assigned as Detachment SNCOIC, MACG-38 for the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) and returned to Iraq for a second time in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM.  Upon completion of a nine month deployment, Gunnery Sergeant Rose was reassigned as SNCOIC, 1st Platoon, MASS-3. 

In January 2006, Gunnery Sergeant Rose received orders to 7th Communications Battalion, III MEF Headquarters Group, III MEF in Okinawa, Japan, where he served as both SNCOIC, MSQ-126 (V4) Platoon and Battalion Operations Chief.

In March 2008, First Sergeant Rose executed orders to Combat Logistics Regiment 3 where he was assigned as Company First Sergeant, Headquarters Company where he again deployed to Thailand for Cobra Gold.

In 2010, First Sergeant Rose received orders to 5th Battalion, 11th Marine Regiment, 1st MarDiv, I MEF where he deployed with Battery S to Afghanistan in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.  Upon his return to California, he was assigned as the Battery First Sergeant, Headquarters Battery.

In December 2011, First Sergeant Rose received orders to Combat Logistics Battalion 3 and served as First Sergeant, Headquarters and Service Company.  On 17 November 2012, he was promoted Sergeant Major and assigned as the Station Sergeant Major, Marine Corps Air Station Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii.

In January 2014, Sergeant Major Rose executed orders to Headquarters Battalion, Marine Corps Base Hawaii where he was assigned as the Battalion Sergeant Major.

In January 2015, Sergeant Major Rose received orders to 3d Low Altitude Air Defense Battalion where he was again assigned as the Battalion Sergeant Major.

In April 2015, Sergeant Major Rose received orders to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 164, Marine Air Group 39, 3d MAW, I MEF as the Squadron Sergeant Major.  In February 2017, Sergeant Major Rose received orders to Headquarters and Support Battalion, Marine Corps Installations West-Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California. 

Sergeant Major Rose’s awards include Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Commendation Medal with four gold stars, and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
