Brigadier General Nick I. Brown currently serves as the Commanding General, Marine Corps Installations West-Marine Corps Base, Camp Pendleton, California. He is a native of New York, and graduate of Stony Brook University.
His prior operational assignments include 3rd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, Camp Lejeune NC where he served as the Motor Transportation Officer and Assistant Logistics Officer. 2d Marine Aircraft Wing, Cherry Point, NC where he served as Headquarters and Service Company Commander and Operations Officer; Marine Wing Support Squadron 271, and Assistant Operations Officer and Logistics Officer, Marine Wing Support Group 27. During these assignments, he deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He served as the III Marine Expeditionary Force Maritime Prepositioned Force planner and Information Management Officer in Okinawa, Japan. While at III MEF, he deployed to Monrovia Liberia in support of Operation Onward Liberty serving as Brigade Staff Advisor to the Liberian Armed Forces, upon returning to CONUS, he served as the Assistant Chief of Staff for Logistics (AC/S G4), 1st Marine Division.
His prior command assignments were as Commanding Officer, Marine Wing Support Squadron 172, and was the Commanding Officer, Combat Logistics Regiment 17, Camp Pendleton, CA.
His previous supporting establishment assignments include: The Amphibious Warfare School, where he served as the Support Branch Head; the Department of Aviation, HQMC where he served as the Aviation Ground Support Coordinator, Aviation Enablers Branch (APX); that Executive Assistant to the Deputy Commandant for Installations and Logistics; and Manpower and Reserve Affairs, where he served as the Officer Assignments Branch Head.
While assigned to the Joint Staff Logistics Directorate (J4), he served as the Chief of the Global Prepositioned War Reserve Materiel Branch and Deputy Director for Current Operations.
He is a graduate of the Army Logistics Captains Career Course, Army Command and General Staff College, and the Marine Corps War College. He holds a Master of Public Administration from Central Michigan University and a Master of Strategic Studies from the Marine Corps War College.
His personal decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit with Gold Star, Meritorious Service Medal with three Gold Stars, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, and the Navy Achievement Medal with Gold Star.
