Sergeant Major Sherri N. Cook

Sherri Cook was born and raised in Washington D.C.  She completed recruit training at 4th Recruit Training Battalion, Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina in May 1997.  Following recruit training, Lance Corporal Cook attended Marine Combat Training at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.   She also attended Motor Transportation School at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri and was assigned the military occupation specialty of motor transport operator.  Lance Corporal Cook reported to Inspector-Instructor duty, Anacostia, Washington D.C. August 1997 as a Dispatcher. She was meritoriously promoted to Corporal in September 1998.     
 
Corporal Cook was then assigned to Henderson Hall, Arlington, Virginia where she held the billet as the training noncommissioned officer and driver for general officers and senior leaders. Corporal Cook was promoted to Sergeant in February 2000.
 
Sergeant Cook graduated as a drill instructor in June 2000 and held the billets of green belt drill instructor, experienced drill instructor and senior drill instructor at the 4th Recruit Training Battalion, Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina.  During this tour, Sergeant Cook was meritoriously promoted to Staff Sergeant in January 2004.
 
Staff Sergeant Cook was then transferred to 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, Marine Air Ground Control Group 18, Marine Air Support Squadron 2, Okinawa, Japan, where she served as the Motor Transport Operations Chief.
 
In January 2006 Staff Sergeant Cook was transferred to Marine Wing Support Squadron 273, Marine Corps Air Station, Beaufort, South Carolina where she held billets as Motor Transport Truck Master and Company Gunnery Sergeant. She then deployed with her unit to Al Asad, Iraq in 2006 and 2007 and held billets as Camp Commandant and Motor Transport Operations Chief.  Staff Sergeant Cook was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant in February 2008.  
 
Gunnery Sergeant Cook was then selected to be an Assistant Marine Officer Instructor for the Navy and Marine Corps Reserve Officer Training Corps (NROTC) at the Hampton Roads College Consortium, Norfolk, Virginia.  
 
In October 2011 Gunnery Sergeant Cook returned to Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina where she assumed duties as Company First Sergeant at Weapon's and Field Training Battalion.  She was promoted to First Sergeant in December 2011.  
 
First Sergeant Cook transferred to the 4th Recruit Training Battalion in May 2012 to serve as Company First Sergeant.  She assumed duties as Battalion Sergeant Major in March 2013.
 
In June 2013 First Sergeant Cook was selected to attend the Army Sergeant's Major Academy where she graduated as part of class 65.
 
In August 2015 First Sergeant Cook was then transferred to Camp Lejeune North Carolina, Combat Logistics Battalion 2 Combat Logistics Regiment 2 where she was assigned as the Headquarters and Services Company First Sergeant.  
 
In February 2015 First Sergeant Cook was frocked to the rank of Sergeant Major and reported to Combat Logistics Battalion 25, 2d Supply Battalion to assume the position as the Sergeant Major. 
 
In March 2018 Sergeant Major Cook was then transferred to Marine Aircraft Group 29, Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 366 where she was appointed as the Squadron Sergeant Major.  
 
In May 2020 Sergeant Major Cook was assigned to Combat Logistics Regiment 45 where she served as the Inspector Instructor Sergeant Major Combat Logistics Regiment 45.
 
June 2022 Sergeant Major Cook assumed the position as the Training Command Senior Enlisted Leader.
 
Sergeant Major Cook's personal awards include: the Meritorious Service Medal with three gold stars in lieu of 4th award, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal gold star in lieu of second award, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal three gold stars in lieu of 4th award. Sgt Major Cook holds a Bachelor degree of Science in Administrative Management, and a Associates in Arts in Sociology degree.
