Press Release #15-014 Noise levels may increase in the vicinity of Camp Pendleton

Artillery units are conducting 24-hour live-fire training exercises that will involve firing on the Whisky and Zulu impact areas, on the northern part of the base on Saturday, Aug. 15. These units will also be training from 6 a.m. to midnight through Monday, Aug. 17.

Depending on atmospheric conditions, the sound of the explosions may be amplified and heard up to 50 miles away.

Units will also detonate Mine Clearing Line Charges from Friday, Aug. 21.Mine Clearing Line Charges are 1,750 pounds of linked C-4 (Composition C) explosives used to create a breach in minefields during combat conditions.
