Sergeant Major Radel enlisted in the Marine Corps in Cincinnati, Ohio and reported to Second Recruit Training Battalion, Parris Island, SC in May 1995. After graduation he reported to Camp Geiger, North Carolina for School of Infantry training and earned the MOS 0311.
PFC Radel then transferred to 2nd Battalion 8th Marines in Camp Lejeune in December 1995. There Corporal Radel deployed to the Mediterranean in support of the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit. Upon return, Sergeant Radel transferred to 2nd Battalion 2nd Marines where he deployed to the Mediterranean in support of the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit.
In January 2001, Sergeant Radel was transferred to Marine Security Guard School Quantico, VA and graduated as the honor graduate. Upon graduation, he earned the MOS 8156 and reported to U.S. Embassy Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina with follow-on orders to U.S. Consulate Hong Kong, China. While on Marine Security Guard duty Sergeant Radel served as watch stander, assistant detachment commander and detachment commander. While at U.S. Consulate Hong Kong he was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant.
In April 2004, Staff Sergeant was transferred to 2nd Battalion 5th Marines and served as machine gun section leader and weapons platoon sergeant. There Staff Sergeant Radel deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom II and Okinawa, Japan in support of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit. While at 2nd Battalion 5th Marines, he was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant.
In July 2007, he was transferred to the Staff Non Commissioned Officer’s Academy Okinawa, Japan and served as the Staff Non Commissioned Officer in Charge of Sergeant’s Course.
In August 2010, he was transferred to 2nd Battalion 2nd Marines, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina and served as the Combined Anti-Armor Team (CAAT) platoon sergeant, Weapons Company until his selection to First Sergeant in December 2010. Upon selection to First Sergeant, he was frocked moved to Golf Company to serve as the First Sergeant. While there, he deployed to the Mediterranean in support of the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit.
In August 2012, he was transferred to 8th Communication Battalion and served as the Company First Sergeant for Service Company.
In August 2013, he was transferred to Force Reconnaissance Company, III MEF Okinawa, Japan and served as the Company First Sergeant for Force Reconnaissance Company. While there, he participated in Presidential Security missions in India and Malaysia. In November 2015, he was selected to Sergeant Major.
Sergeant Major Radel transferred to Marine Wing Communication Squadron 18 (MWCS-18), Okinawa, Japan in April 2016 and was promoted to his present rank in October 2016. While at MWCS-18, he participated in numerous Squadron level exercises in Guam and Korea. In December 2017, he reported to Marine Aviation Logistic Squadron 36 for duty as the Squadron Sergeant Major. In October 2019, Sergeant Major Radel reported to Marine Corps Air Station Camp Pendleton for duty as the Air Station Sergeant Major.
Sergeant Major Radel graduated Magna cum Laude from University of Maryland University College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Studies. His personal decorations include Meritorious Service Medal with gold star, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with combat distinguishing device and silver star, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with three gold stars, and the Combat Action Ribbon.
