MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. -- Gamers on Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton can now rejoice. GameStop, the world’s largest video game retailer, officially opened its doors for business in the Pacific Plaza shopping center Nov. 20, with a Grand Opening Celebration planned for Dec. 2.
Marine Corps Community Services is excited to bring a leader in the entertainment retail community to Camp Pendleton.
“It fits perfectly with some of the entertainment needs of our Marines and sailors,” said Lane Jones, MCCS’ Services Division director. “GameStop will serve as an outstanding addition to the services offered by MCCS.”
With more than 4,400 stores operating in 15 countries, GameStop is a one-stop shopping spot for casual and serious gamers alike.
GameStop stores feature an expansive selection of new and certified-used games to purchase. Also, GameSpot employs a staff of knowledgeable sales associates to help answer any gaming-related questions the customer may have while shopping around. The chain also buys and exchanges store-credit for used video games.
As part of the Grand Opening Celebration on Dec. 2, the store will be holding a raffle contest to give away a free Sony PSP gaming-device. The celebration begins at 11 a.m. and will continue through 1 p.m. Store specials, free snacks, drinks, and music will also be part of the event.
Also under the GameStop umbrella are the store chains EB Games and Electronics Boutique, which the company acquired in 2005 after a merger. GameStop also publishes Game Informer, one of the gaming industry’s leading magazines.
The store’s operating hours are Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. through 9 p.m., and Sunday, 10 a.m. through 7 p.m.
