Sergeant Major Miller Daceus

Sergeant Major Miller Daceus enlisted in the Delayed Entry Program. He went to Recruit Training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina.

Following completion of Marine Combat Training at Camp Geiger, Camp Lejeune, he attended the Administration Clerk Military Occupational Specialty School on Camp Johnson.

He then reported to 1st Battalion, 2d Marine Regiment, Camp Lejeune, N.C.. From there, he deployed to Okinawa, Japan on a Unit Deployment Program and was assigned as a Postal Clerk on the Fleet Assistance Program at the Camp Schwab Post Office. He deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom I and II.

Sergeant Major Daceus reported to Marine Corps Recruiting Station Orlando, where he was assigned as an Operations Clerk. He was then reassigned as an Administration Clerk until he received orders to Drill Instructor School.

He reported to Drill Instructor School at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, S.C. After graduating as a Drill Instructor, he attended the Marital Arts Instructor School at Parris Island. Upon completion of this training, he reported to Delta Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion. He completed his tour as Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor and Company Operations Chief.

He reported to 7th Engineer Support Battalion, 1st Marine Logistics Group, Camp Pendleton as the Administration Chief. He was then reassigned to Combat Logistics Battalion 11 and deployed with the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit on MEU WESTPAC 11.1.

He reported to Combined Arms Training Center, Camp Fuji, Japan, as the Personnel Chief.

He reported to Marine Fighter Attack Squadron (VMFA)122, Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort as the Administration Chief. He deployed with VMFA-122 to the Western Pacific on a Unit Deployment Program and, upon his return, was promoted to the rank of First Sergeant.

He reported to 2d Maintenance Battalion, Camp Lejeune as the Company First Sergeant and rotated through four companies. SgtMaj. Daceus reported to Marine Corps Recruiting Station Chicago for duty. He successfully completed his tour on recruiting and transferred to Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow as Installation Sergeant Major.

SgtMaj. Daceus' personal awards include the Marine Corps Service Medal with a gold star in lieu of second award, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with two gold stars in lieu of third award, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with four gold stars in lieu of fifth award, and Combat Action Ribbon.
