Kuilee Murphy catches a wave during the Red Bull Rival’s U.S. Military Surf Team tryouts. Active-duty service members took to the waves at the Del Mar Beach April 18 to tryout for a spot on the Red Bull Rival’s U.S. Military Surf Team. Tryouts for the 12 available spots were open to all military branches. The U.S. Military Surf Team will compete against the British team at the Red Bull International Surf Competition May 24, which is also being held at Pendleton. Murphy, 33, is a Hawaii native.
