Media Advisory #19-006 - Pendleton Marine's quick thinking saves three in SoCal car crash

Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton Commanding General, Brig. Gen. Daniel B. Conley, will be presenting the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal to Cpl. Alexandra Nowak, an administrative specialist with Alpha Company, Headquarters and Support Battalion, Marine Corps Installations West, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, for exemplifying unwavering courage when saving the lives of three people involved in a vehicle crash Sept. 20.

Nowak was driving to pick up her 2-year old daughter and mother at the airport on Interstate Highway 15 in Escondido, California, when she witnessed a multi-car collision resulting in a sports utility vehicle rolling onto its side. Marines like Nowak underscore the core values of the Marine Corps.

Media are cordially invited to cover the award presentation on Wednesday, Nov. 6 from 3:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. aboard Camp Pendleton. Outlets will be able to capture still/video imagery of the event.

All attending media must include their contact information, names and total number of attending personnel.
