Veterans Day 2019: Camp Pendleton vets share their story - Retired U.S. Marine Corps Col. Skip Curtis served from January 1965 to July 1996 as a pilot. Curtis deployed to South Vietnam during the Vietnam War. Throughout his time in Vietnam, Curtis, a Temple, Pennsylvania, native, said what kept him going was letters from his wife, which at the time took 10 days to receive. Pendleton Marine's quick thinking saves three in SoCal car crash - U.S. Marine Cpl. Alexandra Nowak, an administrative specialist with Alpha Company, Headquarters and Support Battalion, Marine Corps Installations West, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, exemplified unwavering courage when she saved the lives of three people Sept. 20, 2019. Nowak was driving to pick up her 2-year old daughter and mother at the airport on Interstate Highway 15 in Escondido, California, when she witnessed a multi-car collision resulting in a sports utility vehicle rolling onto its side. What you didn’t know about the base housing office - The Camp Pendleton Joint Housing Office is responsible for coordinating operations and oversight management of family housing requirements to include policy development, budget formulation, training and required liaison between the Navy Facilities Command (NAVFAC) and Public-Private Venture (PPV) partners. They also provide guidance and advocacy to military personnel, regardless of duty assignment, while living aboard Camp Pendleton.
