Technology of tomorrow's battles were on display by vendors at the 2012 Marine West Expo held on Camp Pendleton Feb. 1-2.

The Marine Expo displayed modern technology and equipment available to keep troops safe and more efficient.

“As an educator, what I found most interesting is the amount of brainpower, both technical and logistical, that has gone into all of these excellent products,” said Dr. Patricia M. Drown, dean of criminal justice at Allied American University.

Vendors carried everything from robots that can disarm a roadside bomb to combat boots with optimized comfort and durability for Marines on foot patrols.

It’s crucial for service members not only to be educated in the gear and equipment that is available to them, but in all aspects.

“The most important equipment that any service member will need is their own brain,” Drown said.

Making this expo happen takes more than just vendors, it takes a mass amount of support to gain attention for the event.

“I had a Marine say to me that he was happy to see the support the Marines are getting,” Drown said. “I would also like to say thank you to everyone that has come to support our Marines as well.”

Marine expos are held nationwide, with the following events scheduled: Marine South at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, N.C., April 11-12 and Modern Day Marine at Marine Corps Base Quantico, Va., Sept. 25-27. For more information, visit www.marinemilitaryexpos.com.
