Volunteers from the Church of Latter Day Saints help spruce up the Camp Pendleton's School of Infantry West's Caruso Memorial Chapel, April 28. Sixty church members volunteered their time to give a "much needed" update to the more than 50 year-old chapel. Stotts, an Eagle Scout with Camp Pendleton's Boy Scout Troop 790. Stotts was presented the coveted Boy Scouts of America 'Honor Medal with crossed palms'. Leavey, who was previously Rex's handler, had written a letter to Congress requesting to adopt Rex since he was being forced to retire due to facial paralysis. Rex served in three combat deployments and provided over 11,575 hours of military working dog support consisting of over 6,220 vehicle inspections during random anti-terrorism searches.
