Camp Pendleton - U.S. Marine Sgt. Maj. Eric Darmstadt, the battalion sergeant major of Headquarters and Support Battalion, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, reads an award citation for Cpl. Giovanni Brunacini, a rifleman with Echo Company, 2nd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, at Range 214 on Camp Pendleton, California, April 22, 2022. Brunacini, who is currently serving as a block noncommissioned officer with MCB Camp Pendleton’s Range Operations Division, earned a Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal for heroic actions taken after he helped save the life of a man wounded in a drive-by shooting in Lemon Grove, California.
