MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. -- Renovations recently wrapped up on the Camp Pendleton Memorial Golf Course, including new locations for the Pro Shop and Mulligan’s Golf Course Grill opening, June 1.
Mulligan’s new location features a larger canvas covered, open-air dinning area on the second level with a view of the golf course.
“For Mulligan’s, we wanted to make the decor more upscale,” said Dan Donovan, food and hospitality director, Camp Pendleton Memorial Golf Course. “We wanted the base to have a course that was competitive with the privately owned courses in town.”
The Pro Shop sports new renovations as well. It was moved up to the second floor and given a larger area to accommodate golfers and inventory.
Apart from its new location, the shop has added a small putting green for customers to try different putters and find the right three wiggle.
The whole project took about 14 weeks from start to finish, including the replacement of the heating and air conditioning system in the Pro Shop.
More renovations are on the horizon.
“For the halfway house, we want to do a demolition and rebuild,” said Paul Crane, construction superintendant, Marine Corps Community Services. “It will be replaced with a kiosk for the ball vending machine, and machines for serving drinks and maybe even hot food.”
All the festivities will mark the first occasion in the last few years that major parts of the golf course had not been under renovation.
“We are very happy that the renovations have been completed now,” said Doug Blanchard, operations manager, Camp Pendleton Memorial Golf Course. “To thank people for their patience in waiting for us to complete the job, we are offering half-priced green fees and cart rentals.”
Special discounts and deals are being offered at both Mulligan’s and the Pro Shop ending July 31.
“We did a soft opening for June,” said Richard Tobias, manager of catering, Camp Pendleton Memorial Golf Course. “We have our big event in July. All month we will offer discounts and have various golf companies offering demonstrations and discounts on their products, as well as food and drink specials.”
