Between field exercises, training and taking care of children, Camp Pendleton service members and spouses don’t always have the time to pamper their hair.

Onyx, a new salon which recently opened on base, incorporates the latest professional cutting, styling, color techniques and ideas to provide an unparalleled salon experience.

Services include basic and style cuts, perms, relaxers, conditioning, waxing, coloring and shampoo treatments from their exclusive "r3" menu.

“I like it here because of the service I get,” said Wendy Labelle, a Marine’s spouse who received a perm at the salon.

Onyx’s "r3" shampoo lounge offers an intimate, specifically designed space for relaxing, renewing and rejuvenating hair, scalp and psyche. The salon's staff are specially trained shampoo technicians and use only the finest products.

The "r3" shampoo lounge allows clients to experience new levels of comfort and relaxation without having to leave base.

“We offer a very competitive alternative so that people don’t have to go somewhere else off base,” said Jackie Maxwell, Onyx Salon manager. “Our stylists are professional and friendly.”

The staff at Onyx are licensed in cosmetology and have undergone countless hours of training at premiere schools to provide the best possible hair care.

“A lot of people don’t realize cosmetologists need to have a license, but we also get certified on Paul Mitchell’s education programs as well,” said Maxwell.

Reservations are available but walk-ins are always welcome.

Onyx salon is located at Pacific Plaza, near Roberto’s and are open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
