Residents of Camp Pendleton Wire Mountain housing community gathered to share their holiday spirit during a Winter Festival event at the Abbey Reinke Community Center, Dec. 16.

“This is without a doubt the best (Winter Festival) the community center has hosted,” said Sgt. Bryan T. Westcott, radio operator, 1st Marine Logistics Group. “The holiday spirit is definitely strong with the majority of programs on base.”

During the festive affair, families enjoyed free food, train rides, prizes, holiday-themed performances by Polynesian dancers and a holiday concert by children of the Wire Mountain community.

“Seeing all our kids together on stage, singing their little hearts out, really brings us closer as a community,” said Catherine Gorgone, military spouse, Camp Pendleton. “The night is going so well, I wish it would never end.”

While enjoying the various activities, attendees kept their ears open in anticipation of their raffles ticket number being called. Patrons stood to win prizes such as Marine Corps Community Services gift cards, holiday decorations and Blue-ray disk players.

Lance Cpl. Adam Parks, administrative clerk, 1st Marine Division, was one of three recipients of a blue-ray disk player. “I’m so glad I came out, this gift really made my Christmas,” Parks said.
