To cement that belief, this year, the hobby shop is planning many new and inventive activities for anyone and everyone who wants to indulge their artistic side.

“We have up-coming classes that are new and fun,” said Dave Keck, assistant manager, Arts and Crafts Hobby Shop. “We try to stay up-to-date with popular interest.”

Some of the new activities include “Dolly and Me” children’s sewing, candle and soap making, basic wood turning and “Paint Me a Story” ceramic classes.

“The whole family can come here and spend the day together,” Keck said. “There's something for everyone.”

A day at the hobby shop is a great way to spend time with loved ones; it helps to create lasting treasures.

“You leave the sessions with something that has meaningful memories,” said Kat Dunford, daughter of a military service member.

All the classes at the hobby shop are offered at minimal cost. Most of the costs incurred are for materials used for the projects.

“Affordable prices are not the only plus,” Dunford said. “The fact that it’s on base makes it very convenient.”

The hobby shop caters to all skill levels, from the novice to the old hand.

“We are here to provide service to our military community and those who support them,” Keck said.

The hobby shop is open from Wednesday through Friday, 12 to 8 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday at 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is located on Mainside, bldg. 13113.
