Beginning April 11, Camp Pendleton’s Del Mar gate will have a controlled entrance for base residents to use for access to the base after normal business hours.

The new access point for Del Mar’s gate is an initiative being carried out by the base commander, Col. Nicholas F. Marano, for the residents of Del Mar who have been suggesting that the gate have extended hours. Those who utilized the gate in the past have had to do so by 6 p.m.  All Department of Defense employees and active-duty service members and their dependents, of the 21 area, will have the ability to use this access point.

The gate, which is equipped with a biometric card reader, will be open from 6 pm. until 6 a.m. Residents who plan to use this gate must register at the Physical Security department located in the Provost Marshall’s Office located at building 1523 between the hours of 7 a.m. and 3 p.m.

All Del Mar residents using the access point after hours must be registered for the system and will be required to use a valid ID for gaining access, said Travis Riffey, security manager, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton. Instructions on how to use the access point will be given at the time of registration.

For further information about obtaining access to the gate, contact the physical security office at 760-725-5725.
