MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. -- Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton is scheduled to hold a Diabetes and Cardio Health Fair, Oct. 17 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the ground floor next to the dining facility.
This event is an opportunity for all TRICARE beneficiaries with diabetes, or who think they may have diabetes or high cholesterol, to meet on a walk-in basis with physicians to discuss any health concerns. Screening for diabetes and high cholesterol will be available, as well as food preparation and a Pilates demonstration.
Healthcare professionals from population health management, internal medicine, family medicine, smoking cessation, immunizations, nutrition, physical therapy, patient education and the pharmacy will also be available to answer questions and provide information.
“Diabetes and high cholesterol can be serious diseases and are prevalent in all ages, both male and female,” said Dr. Nahed Bahlawan, a NHCP clinical pharmacist and lead coordinator of the health fair, in a statement. “But identification through screening and proper treatment can improve or even prevent these diseases. That’s why we’re having this event, to provide quick easy access to healthcare providers and information.”
