Government vehicle operators assume responsibility for tolls

22 Jul 2014 | Sgt. Valerie C. Eppler Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton

Government vehicles are authorized to travel on toll roads, however, the operator will be responsible for any tolls or fines associated with traveling on those roads. Service members and government employees must pay the toll charge at the time of use and file a travel claim for reimbursement.

Southern California toll road fees may range from $3 to $10 depending on the distance traveled. Additional fines may be imposed after 48 hours and increase every 30 days of delinquency if not paid promptly.

Units reponsible for the vehicle will be notified by Southwest Regional Fleet Transportation when they receive the monthly toll fees and fines report. Failure to promptly pay the tolls or fines will result in notification to the responsible unit’s chain of command.

Additional toll road information can be found at www.thetollroads.com or contact SWRFT at (760) 725-4946.
