Lieutenant Colonel Jon B. Livingston

Lieutenant Colonel Livingston is a native of Crestview, Florida. He graduated from the University of Florida and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in 1997.  Following The Basic School, he reported to Naval Air Station Pensacola, Florida for flight training and was subsequently assigned to Marine Helicopter Training Squadron 303 at Marine Corps Air Station Camp Pendleton, CA for replacement aircrew training in the AH-1W.

 

Lieutenant Colonel Livingston served with the “Stingers” of Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 267 from September 2000 through June 2005. During that time, he held positions in the administration, operations, and maintenance departments. He deployed twice to Okinawa Japan under the Unit Deployment Program, once to Iraq as part of the initial combat forces assigned to Operation IRAQI FREEDOM, and once with the 15th MEU for participation in Operation UNIFIED ASSISTANCE and again in Operation IRAQI FREEDOM.

 

He was then assigned to Marine Light Attack Helicopter Training Squadron 303 from June 2005 through December 2007. Lieutenant Colonel Livingston served as a fleet replacement squadron instructor, Flight Training Officer, and AH-1W Naval Aviation Training and Operations Procedures Flight Evaluator.

 

Lieutenant Colonel Livingston reported to the Expeditionary Warfare Training Group – Pacific for instruction and designation as a Forward Air Controller/Joint Terminal Attack Controller then completed the Light Armored Vehicles Leader’s Course at Marine Corps School of Infantry – West. He reported to the First Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion where he served as the battalion’s Air Officer from December 2007 through May 2009. During this period he deployed to Camp Korean Village and Forward Operating Base Sahl Sinjar for a third tour in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM.

 

Following aircrew refresher training, Lieutenant Colonel Livingston joined the "Gunfighters" of Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 369 and served as the department head for the administration, communication, and human affairs sections and later as the Assistant Operations Officer.  Lieutenant Colonel Livingston posted as the squadron Operations Officer while deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.

 

In the summer of 2011, he transferred to Quantico, Virginia where he received a Masters in Military Studies as a distinguished graduate from the United States Marine Corps Command and Staff residence course in June 2012.  Lieutenant Colonel Livingston served as the Marine Aide de Camp to the Secretary of the Navy from June 2012 through June 2014 when he reported to the Aviation Manpower and Support branch of Headquarters Marine Aviation.

 

LtCol Livingston commanded Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 267 from June 2015 through June 2017. He then received a Master of Strategic Studies from the United States Army War College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. In June 2018, Lieutenant Colonel Livingston reported to United States European Command in Stuttgart, Germany where he served as the Head of the Global Force Management Branch, Operations Directorate until July 2020.
