U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl. Damien Gutierrez/Released 120118-M-6664G-016.jpg
Apr 12, 2008
Camp Pendleton officials cut the ceremonial ribbon unveiling the base’s new $8.3 million 13 Area Dining Facility located on Mainside, Jan. 18. The newly constructed chow hall covers more than 17,000 square feet, and also comes with a 10,000 square foot parking area equipped with high-efficiency mechanical and electrical systems, which supply power to the fully functional kitchen. With a new facility comes a new menu as well. Starting this year, Semper Fit will kick off the Fueled to Fight program, which is a means to increase healthy food options at dining facilities. Patrons will still see old favorites but with the addition of healthy options. Such options include steamed vegetables, whole grains, and grilled, lean meats such as poultry and fish.
