The Facilities Maintenance Department, or FMD, on Camp Pendleton, handles a wide range of problems on base dealing with utilities such as electricity, carpentry, and plumbing. FMD is a 24-hour work-force that takes care of the daily maintenance and operations of the base.

For the past 75 years, the name "Pendleton" has become legendary because of the nation's largest military base hugging the northern limits of Oceanside. Truth be known, most people haven't a clue as to who "Pendleton" was. He was Marine Maj. Gen. Joseph H. Pendleton, - a man who was born before the Civil War, lived through World War I and died as World War II raged.

Gary Johnston, Chief of Staff, and Capt. William Whitmire, Assistant Chief of Staff, visited FMD to thank the workers personally Feb 1, for their hard work during recovery efforts from recent storms.

According to the MARADMIN, Military Saves Week 2017 is a total force command program that encourages Marines and their families to focus on financial readiness, debt reduction and increasing savings in small amounts to achieve long-term financial goals.

U.S. 5TH FLEET AREA OF OPERATIONS (Dec. 12, 2016) 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit Law Enforcement (LE) Marines and Tessa, a military working dog, walk a patrol route around a forward operating base during Exercise Alligator Dagger, Dec. 13. The patrol served two purposes: to sustain the LE detachment Marines’ patrolling tactics and procedures, and acclimatize Tessa to the region’s high temperatures and arid environment. The 11th MEU is currently supporting the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations’ mission to promote and maintain stability and security in the region.
