The Area Guard, The Provost Marshal Office and the Naval Criminal Investigative Service conducted an active shooter response exercise at the 21-area Single Marine Program building here on June 17. Base personnel manage an Emergency Operations Center, June 18 as part of Exercise Semper Durus, a full-scale base Force Protection exercise from June 15 – 19. Semper Durus is a regional command post exercise and is comprised of a series of field training scenarios designed to improve regional command and control, enhance interagency coordination, and improve installation capabilities to respond to, and recover from, a crisis event and validate the installation mission assurance all-hazard plan.

CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. - The Las Pulgas fire first reported at 3:15 p.m. Thursday has grown to 8,000 acres burned and 5% contained. Evacuation orders for Camp Las Pulgas, Camp Margarita, Camp Las Flores and 32 Area remain in effect. The Las Pulgas gate remains closed to all traffic except emergency vehicles. Stuart Mesa Road north of Assault Craft Unit-5 remains closed. Basilone Road from Marine Corps Air Station Camp Pendleton to Camp Horno, as well as Las Pulgas Road remain closed. Ammunition Road aboard Naval Weapons Station Fallbrook also remains closed.

CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. – Joe R. Vaineharrison received a Navy Meritorious Civilian Service Award for his exemplary service, March 23. Vaineharrison, a range control officer with the range operations division, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Marine Corps Installations West, received the award from the School of Infantry-West for his service throughout the year of 2015.

Marine Corps Recruiting Command (MCRC) will host a casting call at the Marine Corps Exchange in the 13 area and the Pacific Views Marine Corps Exchange on Camp Pendleton for future recruiting media, April 5-6. MCRC is looking for quality Marines of all ranks, occupational specialty and backgrounds to be considered in future MCRC advertising projects.
