CAMP PENDLETON, Calif., -- Headquarters Marine Corps and the Camp Pendleton Fire Department dedicate Pendleton’s recently constructed fire station in commemoration of Sgt. Brian E. Dunlap here April 6. Dunlap served eight years in the Marine Corps before being transferred to the Individual Ready Reserves, at which time he served as a firefighter for the CPFD. In 2005, Dunlap was recalled to active duty and was assigned to 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force (forward) to advise and train the Iraqi Army. While conducting combat operations against enemy forces in Abu Fleiss, Iraq, Dunlap was killed by an improvised explosive device.
