U.S. Marine Corps photo by Petty Officer 1st Class Michael R. McCormick/Released 130724-N-HJ915-158.JPG
Jul 29, 2013
Employees of Clark Construction Group and McCarthy Building Companies Inc. place a hospital corpsman from the Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton Hospital Corpsman Combat Memorial on a pallet for transportation to storage. The statues on the monument are being individually removed and will be reassembled on a new base at the replacement hospital. The new monument is scheduled to be completed later this year. The memorial was created by Raul Avina, a World War II veteran who was in the battle of Iwo Jima, and was dedicated in 1983 for the services and sacrifices made by hospital corpsman in carrying out their duties during wartime.
