U.S. Marine Corps photo by Sgt. Trevon S. Peracca/Released 140809-M-LM776-056.JPG
Aug 9, 2014
Andrea Lillywhite observes her shot group after firing the M27 Infantry Automatic Rifle during the Jane Wayne Day event at the School of Infantry here, Aug. 9. The day started off with one group breaking off to learn how to operate different weapons systems such as the M16 service rifle and the M9 service pistols using the Indoor Simulated Marksmanship Trainer. They travelled to Range 210C to conduct a live-fire shoot with the M27 Infantry Automatic Rifle. "It was a fun experience," said Kaylee Walter, whose husband serves as the executive officer for India Company, Marine Combat Training Battalion, SOI-W. "It was surprising how heavy the weapon was and how hard it was to hit the target. It really gave me a whole new understanding and appreciation as to what my husband does."
