A U.S. Landing Craft Air Cushion with Assault Craft Unit Five, approaches the USS Somerset (LPD 25) off the coast of Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif., Feb. 20, 2016, to offload gear and personnel in preparation for the culminating training event of Exercise Iron Fist 2016. The event is a scenario-based, bilateral amphibious assault, between the U.S. Marine Corps and Japan Ground Self-Defense Force, launched from the USS Somerset in coordination with inland airborne troop movements aboard Camp Pendleton.
