Engines roared to life and anxious riders gunned throttles in anticipation when service members representing units from Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton and Marine Corps Air Station Miramar ditched their day jobs for dirt bikes at Amago Sports Park July 17. Staff Sgt. Mark L. Oldroyd, an instructor at the Assault Amphibious School Battalion at Camp Del Mar, organized the safety event in order to educate service members about safety and proper maintenance. The off-road day, which is open to any service member, is held approximately once a month to ensure service members haven?t developed bad habits or overlooked necessary vehicle repairs.
