A new naval hospital was approved, March 20, to replace this Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton building, which was completed in 1974. The new 500,000 square foot hospital is proposed to be located at the South Mesa area of the base, and will provide the latest in inpatient and outpatient technology, and improve the ability to remain fully operational after an earthquake. Construction is slated to begin in 2010, with completion and full operation by 2014.::r::::n::
