Torrey Stapps, a kindergarten student from North Terrace Elementary School, Oceanside Calif., awaits the start of the school’s first Earth Day Recycled Hat Parade, April 22. Hundreds of students, primarily from the Camp Pendleton community, made extravagant hats from items commonly thrown in the trash. Teachers and faculty staff judged the wacky creations and awarded the most creative designs. The school’s parade was just one of the many Earth Day events enjoyed by local service members and their families.
