Joseph Purdy, son of Gunnery Sgt. Loren Purdy, receives a $250 gift certificate for being one of four finalists in Camp Pendleton’s Marine Corps Community Services' back-to-school essay contest at the base’s Marine Corps Exchange, Aug. 23. Although this back-to-school promotion is over, there are still plenty of opportunities for the children of Camp Pendleton to participate in various rewarding activities to get them back to their studies. MCCS, in conjunction with the base’s MCX, is scheduled to kick off its ninth annual Super Star Student Program, Sept. 30.
