(Left to right) Cmdr. Scott King, resident officer-in-charge of construction, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton; John Price, senior vice-president, CDM Constructors Inc.; Marc Engstrom, utilities division director, Facilities Maintenance Division, MCB Camp Pendleton; Cmdr. Gus Lim, public works officer, MCB Camp Pendleton; Ron Couchot, utilities team lead, Public Works Office, MCB Camp Pendleton; break ground on Camp Pendleton’s Advanced Water Treatment System, April 1. The $46.3 million state-of-the-art AWTS will help Camp Pendleton adhere to the new state initiative to improve water quality standards. Filtration systems and domestic water softeners, often found in many base homes, will no longer be needed due to the new system, saving base residents money. While the current product is both safe and compliant with state requirements, Camp Pendleton will soon have the highest quality water in San Diego County as a result of this project. The AWTS is scheduled to be completed December 2012.
