U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl. Damien Gutierrez/Released 110414-M-6664G-001.jpg
Apr 14, 2011
Recently Building 41303, a barracks building in the 41 area of Camp Pendleton, was renovated - extending its life for at least 30 years. The barracks were officially re-opened, April 14. The project was self-certified to meet the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Silver standard. A few environmentally friendly features the project has to offer include a dryscape, a bio swell to collect water runoff before entering the storm drain, and solar paneled lights to illuminate the parking lot. The $7.4 million renovation will once again be occupied by service members with 1st Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, and can house approximately 200 Marines and sailors.
