U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl. Damien Gutierrez/Released 120607-M-6664G-001.jpg
Jun 8, 2011
Ninety-two-year-old Alice O'Neill Avery sits with Brig. Gen. Vincent A. Coglianese, commanding general, Marine Corps Installations – West, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton as she recollects past experiences she had at the base’s Historical Ranch House as a child, May 7. The Historical Ranch House was the homestead of the O'Neill Family before the southern portion was purchased by the Department of the Navy in 1942, in support of the war effort. Since then, the O’Neil family has continued to maintain a positive link between themselves and the military base they once called home by annually visiting the base to see its progress.
