Sergeant Major J. R. Robertson

Sergeant Major Robertson was born in New Orleans Louisiana. He enlisted in the Marine Corps on 24 September 1981, and attended boot camp at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego California.

In March 1982, after completing the Heavy Equipment Operator School in Fort Leonard Wood Missouri, where he received the MOS 1345. Sergeant Major Robertson reported to 8th Engineers Support Battalion, Alpha Company, Camp Lejeune North Carolina. There he was meritoriously promoted to the ranks of Lance Corporal and Corporal.

In September 1983, Sergeant Major Robertson reported to 3rd First Service Support Group, Landing Support Battalion, Okinawa Japan, where he served as the Heavy Equipment Terex Forklift Section NCO.

In August 1984, Sergeant Major Robertson reported to Marine Corps Air Station, Cherry Point North Carolina, where he served as the Embarkation and Hazardous Waste NCO. Unfortunately, Sergeant Major Robertson was injured and was placed on the Temporary Disability Retirement List May of 1987.

In August 1990, Sergeant Major Robertson was found fit for duty and reported to 1st Force Service Support Group, 7th Engineers Support Battalion, Camp Pendleton California, where he served as the Heavy Equipment Platoon Sergeant.

In February 1993, Sergeant Major Robertson reported to the 11th Marine Expedition Unit, Marine Service Support Group-11, Engineer Support Detachment, Camp Pendleton California, where he served as the Engineer Chief. There he deployed on West-Pac's 94 and 95.

In October 1997, Sergeant Major Robertson reported to Drill Instructor School at Marine Corp Recruit Depot, San Diego California. After graduating, he served as a Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor, Chief Drill Instructor, and Company First Sergeant for Company M, 3rd Battalion.

In February 2000, Sergeant Major Robertson reported to Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron, Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, San Diego California, where he served as the Housing Liaison Chief.

In April 2001, Sergeant Major Robertson reported to 2nd Battalion 11th Marines, Battery “G”, Camp Pendleton California. There he deployed on a Unit Deployment Program July 2002 with 2nd Battalion 4th Marines.

In August 2003, Sergeant Major Robertson reported to Headquarters & Service Company, Headquarters Battalion, 1st Marine Division, Camp Pendleton California. There he deployed to Iraq.

In August 2004, Sergeant Major Robertson reported to 3D FSSG, 3D TSB, Okinawa Japan, where he served as the company First Sergeant of Support Company and Headquarters & Service Company.

In December 2005, Sergeant Major Robertson was frocked to the rank of Sergeant Major and reported to Marine Tactical Air Command Squadron 18, Okinawa Japan. There he deployed to Korea in support of 2006 & 2007 UFL.

In September 2007, Sergeant Major Robertson reported to Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 262, Marine Aircraft Group 36. There he deployed with the 31st MEU on numerous operations as the ACE Sergeants Major.

In November 2010, Sergeant Major Robertson reported to Marine Aircraft Group 39. There he served as the Group Sergeants Major.

In April 2013, Sergeant Major Robertson reported for duty as the Headquarters and Support Battalion where he is presently serving.

Sergeant Major Robertson's personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
