CAMP PENDLETON -- U.S. Marine Corps MV-22 Osprey tiltroter aircraft from Miramar-based Marine Aircraft Group 16 are scheduled to conduct flight operations, including approaches, landings and departures, at a former Voice of America site west of Delano, Calif., Friday.

Two MV-22 aircraft will conduct approximately two hours of flight operations to determine the site’s ability to accommodate MV-22 flight activity in a safe and controlled manner.

The flight operations are scheduled as part of a three-day visit by Marine Corps officials to preliminarily evaluate the potential of the former Voice of America site to serve as a future training location for organizations assigned to the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force currently headquartered at Camp Pendleton, Calif.

Residents of Delano may see or hear the MV-22 aircraft flying east of Delano and are advised that this is part of a scheduled visit. Motorists are reminded not to be distracted by the aircraft.
